The Eastern Cape has three commercial airports, in Port Elizabeth, East London and Mthatha. Until recently Port Elizabeth and East London have been the only airports with a variety of airlines and flights to choose from.
The Port Elizabeth is serviced by the following Airlines:
East London has the following Airline flights:
The Mthatha airport was serviced by SA Airlink which has two flights per day. The new kid on the block, Blue Crane has recently introduced affordable flights to the Mthatha Airport at very competitive prices. This has had a dramatic effect resulting in the reduction of SA Airlink fares which were in the region of R3000 plus per trip.
Mthatha Airport offers the following flights:
The sustainability of Blue Crane will depend largely on the support that it gets from customers using this route. I would hasten to encourage everyone to please support this airline as it is not government funded like SA Airlink and its sustainability is solely dependent on fare paying customers.
